The School Board
Elected under the provisions of the Elementary Education Act, 1870, a school board was formed in Brandon in 1873, and consisted of the Rev. W. F. Crocker (chairman); and Mssrs. C. W. Goodson (vice-chairman); Edward Balding, Wm. Owles, and John Wood with Mr. W. R. Rolfe as clerk.
According to Kelly's Suffolk Directory of 1883 the School Board, with Fuller Rolfe as clerk to the board, met at the Board room, Market hill, on the first Tuesday in each month, at 6.30 p.m.
