The Ram is said to be one of the oldest surviving buildings in Brandon. Its present day landlord told me that it does not have conventional foundations but "floats" on a raft of slate! From the back of the building it is easy to see the various phases in the growth of this old building as new sections have been added through the years. Also to the rear of the property is an ancient "protected" tree.

I have also heard that the Ram is built over the original course of the Little Ouse. When the "new" Brandon bridge was built (not the present one constructed in 1954)
